Ron Zacapa Celebrates 50 Years With an Assouline Book in Guatemala

Ron Zacapa is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the arrival in Guatemala of a book published by Assouline, the international publishing house known for its titles on art, culture, design, travel and luxury brands. Spanning 256 pages, the publication explores the brand's history and its connection to Guatemala through photography, storytelling and editorial design.

A Book Exploring Five Decades of Ron Zacapa

Founded in 1976 in the department of Zacapa, Guatemala, Ron Zacapa has built its identity around its place of origin and the processes behind its rum. The new publication revisits this history, offering readers a closer look at the brand's development and the traditions associated with its production.

The book explores techniques such as the Solera System and high-altitude aging through the perspective of Lorena Vásquez, the brand's Master Blender.

For Vásquez, the publication represents an opportunity to share a broader story about the country and the people behind the product.

"This publication allows us to tell a story that goes beyond rum: it speaks of our country, its richness, its people and the talent behind every bottle," she said.

Assouline Brings Guatemalan Heritage to an International Audience

Founded in Paris in 1994 by Prosper and Martine Assouline, the publishing house produces books covering fashion, architecture, gastronomy, travel and culture. Its publications combine photography, editorial content and design, with an emphasis on collectible editions.

In this book, Ron Zacapa's history serves as a starting point for exploring different expressions of Guatemalan identity, including the country's landscapes, traditions and the knowledge and craftsmanship involved in rum production.

Guatemalan writer and photographer Claudia Hernández wrote the text accompanying the publication. The book also incorporates the experiences and contributions of Guatemalan talents from different disciplines, bringing local perspectives to the country's cultural story.

Through this approach, the publication connects the trajectory of a brand with the history of its place of origin, presenting Guatemala to readers in other countries.
