ENERGUATE Ranks as Guatemala’s Leading Energy Company in Merco 2026

ENERGUATE has been recognized as the leading company in Guatemala’s energy sector in Merco’s 2026 rankings, reflecting its corporate reputation, sustainability strategy and commitment to the communities it serves. The company’s results highlight its efforts to combine operational performance with social and environmental responsibility.

Merco Recognizes ENERGUATE’s Corporate Reputation

ENERGUATE’s position in the Merco Empresas ranking and its leadership in the energy sector in Merco Responsabilidad 2026 reflect the company’s standing among businesses in Guatemala. Both results highlight its approach to corporate responsibility and its relationships with customers, employees, communities and other stakeholders.

Merco, the Corporate Reputation Business Monitor, has evaluated companies’ reputations across Ibero-America since 2000. Its methodology combines assessments from different perspectives, digital reputation analysis and comparisons with objective indicators of companies’ performance. The ranking process is conducted by Análisis e Investigación and undergoes an independent review by KPMG.

For Paulo César Parra, general manager of ENERGUATE, the recognition reflects the trust the company is building with its stakeholders.

“This recognition demonstrates the trust we are building with our different stakeholders. For ENERGUATE, reputation is the result of doing our job well, fulfilling our commitments and maintaining a long-term vision of the role we play in Guatemala,” Parra said.

He added that being ranked as the number one company in the energy sector reinforces the company's responsibility to maintain operations that are responsible, connected to local communities and focused on creating value for the country.

Sustainability and Social Impact Across Guatemala

ENERGUATE’s corporate reputation is supported by a sustainability strategy that combines the expansion and modernization of its electricity network with social impact programs.

The distributor serves more than 2.7 million households, businesses, companies and institutions in 21 of Guatemala’s 22 departments. Its initiatives focus on education, employability, environmental sustainability and the development of 13.5 million people.

Lissette Barrios, ENERGUATE’s talent and communications manager, emphasized that corporate reputation depends on the consistency between a company’s decisions and the way it engages with people.

“Speaking about reputation means speaking about consistency. What people perceive about a company is built every day through its decisions, the way it relates to its employees, customers and communities, and how it responds to the challenges of its environment,” Barrios said.

She added that the results confirm that the company's work to strengthen its culture, relationships with stakeholders, and social and environmental programs is moving in the right direction.

Merco Evaluates Corporate Responsibility Through Multiple Indicators

Merco’s corporate responsibility assessment considers companies’ environmental, social and corporate governance performance. Its methodology incorporates evaluations from different stakeholder groups alongside an analysis of objective indicators.

For the 2026 edition, the responsibility study included 2,334 surveys, digital analysis and benchmarking based on 30 objective indicators.

This combination of perspectives provides a broader assessment of how companies approach responsibility and interact with their stakeholders. For ENERGUATE, its results in Merco Empresas and Merco Responsabilidad connect corporate reputation with the company's operating practices and its relationship with Guatemala.

ENERGUATE Reinforces Its Role in Guatemala’s Energy Sector

ENERGUATE’s leadership in the energy sector and its position in Merco’s rankings highlight the company's efforts to bring together operational efficiency, sustainability and social commitment.

The recognition also establishes a reference point for the company as it continues working to strengthen its relationships with customers, employees, communities and other stakeholders.

By linking its electricity distribution operations with infrastructure modernization and social and environmental initiatives, ENERGUATE positions corporate responsibility as an integral part of how it operates and contributes to Guatemala.
