Changan Celebrates Nearly Two Decades in Guatemala with Strategic Portfolio Expansion
Automotive brand Changan is celebrating its 19th anniversary in the Guatemalan market by expanding its local lineup with the introduction of three new vehicle models: the Deepal G318, the Changan Nevo Q05, and the fifth-generation Changan CS55. The milestone highlights the brand's long-term commercial footprint in Central America, driven locally through its partnership with Grupo Sikamotors.
Three New Models Expand Changan’s Lineup
Leading the new additions is the Deepal G318, an SUV featuring a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) architecture that combines electric propulsion with a gasoline generator, offering an estimated combined autonomy of over 1,000 kilometers. Alongside it, the Changan Nevo Q05 marks a strategic entry into accessible 100% electric mobility, providing up to 450 kilometers of range per charge with an introductory price point of Q165,000. Rounding out the announcements is the fifth-generation Changan CS55, a popular SUV line updated with modern design and tech iterations to strengthen the brand's core combustion-engine offerings.

Changan’s Presence in Guatemala
Over nearly two decades, Changan has built an extensive operational network in Guatemala spanning specialized showrooms, after-sales service infrastructure, and a diverse product matrix tailored to shifting consumer preferences across urban and lifestyle segments.

Electrified Vehicles and Guatemala’s Auto Market
Changan’s 19-year milestone in Guatemala reflects the broader evolution of the Central American automotive market, where brands are increasingly balancing traditional combustion models with New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). As consumer demand diversifies, automotive distributors face the dual challenge of catering to buyers seeking fuel efficiency and familiar internal combustion formats, while simultaneously introducing early adopters to electrified platforms.
The introduction of extended-range hybrids like the Deepal G318 and accessible electric options like the Nevo Q05 illustrates how brands are adapting to regional infrastructure realities, such as charging network maturation, by offering transitional technologies. Meanwhile, high-volume updates like the fifth-generation CS55 ensure continued competitiveness in the core SUV segment against an expanding array of Asian and global competitors vying for market share in Guatemala.
