AGEXPORT Names 12 Industry Leaders Competing for Guatemala’s Premier Export Honors
Guatemala’s trade sector is taking center stage as the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (AGEXPORT) officially announced the 12 corporate finalists for the 38th edition of the National Export Award (Galardón Nacional a la Exportación). Set for its grand gala on October 29, the prestigious event honors firms that demonstrate exceptional market adaptability, supply chain integration, and economic resilience.
AGEXPORT Unveils 12 Finalists and Evaluation Criteria for the 2026 Export Honors
The finalists are split evenly across three core competitive categories: Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fishing; Services, Contact Center & BPO; and Manufactures, Apparel and Textiles. Among the contenders are established names such as Plantaciones Nahualate and Palo Blanco in the agricultural segment, technological and health service providers like Digifact Servicios and Visualiza, and manufacturing stalwarts including Fogel de Centroamérica and Muebles Continental. A multidisciplinary jury evaluated each candidate based on commercial performance, digital transformation, sustainability metrics, and positive community impact.
"It is time to recognize exporters who continue to show adaptation and growth in the face of a challenging international environment and internal competitiveness barriers"
Stated Amador Carballido, Director General of AGEXPORT. Darío Urdaneta, president of the organizing committee, emphasized that under this year’s theme, "Connecting exports, transcending borders", the event highlights organizations forging enduring commercial ties and maximizing regional value.

Additional Awards and the Race for the Ultimate Exporter of the Year Title
The winning company from each category will move forward to compete for the ultimate title of "Exporter of the Year 2026". Additional honors will also spotlight achievements in women-led exporting, first-time international shipments, and institutional support.
Macroeconomic Resilience, Record Export Figures, and Nearshoring Opportunities
The announcement arrives against a backdrop of steady activity for Guatemala’s external trade, with total exports reaching US$11.405 billion through August 2026. Despite fluctuating global demand and logistical hurdles, non-traditional exports, spanning specialty processed goods, specialized manufactures, and advanced service models, continue to drive macroeconomic resilience.
Market observers note that corporate modernization, digital automation, and sustainable traceability practices are increasingly separating top-tier Central American enterprises from regional peers. By fostering high-value segments ranging from medical tourism and specialized software to agro-industrial value addition, Guatemalan corporations are successfully expanding their footprints across North America, Europe, Asia, and Caribbean markets. The upcoming awards ceremony not only celebrates individual corporate milestones but also underscores Guatemala's growing competitiveness as a strategic regional hub for global trade and nearshoring opportunities.
