Unilever strengthened its position as one of the leading consumer goods companies in the region after being recognized in the MERCO Empresas and MERCO Responsabilidad ESG 2025 rankings during the Regional Corporate Reputation Forum.

The company ranked #8 in the MERCO Empresas ranking and #10 in the MERCO Responsabilidad ESG ranking across Central America and the Dominican Republic, reinforcing its reputation for sustainable value creation and corporate leadership in environmental, social, and governance criteria.

Unilever Strengthens Its Corporate Reputation in the Region

The recognition places Unilever among the companies with the strongest corporate reputation and ESG performance in Central America and the Dominican Republic.

MERCO evaluates organizations through a methodology that combines stakeholder perception, objective performance indicators, and factors including ethics, governance, environmental management, social impact, and quality of products and services.

This year’s edition marked the second ranking focused on corporate reputation in the region and also introduced, for the first time, a dedicated ESG responsibility ranking.

According to the results, Unilever’s presence within both Top 10 lists reflects a business strategy centered on sustainable value creation for consumers, clients, and communities.

A Strategy Built Around Sustainability and Purpose

Rodrigo Sotomayor highlighted that sustainability continues to be a core pillar of the company’s operations and long-term strategy.

At Unilever, we understand that reputation is built every day through a model that integrates performance and purpose. This recognition reflects that the way we operate truly matters and confirms that sustainability is not an addition, but a fundamental part of our strategy,” said Sotomayor.

The executive also emphasized the importance of maintaining operational agility and anticipating market needs as differentiating factors for the company across the region.

Unilever’s Presence Across Global Consumer Markets

Unilever is one of the world’s largest suppliers of Beauty and Wellbeing, Personal Care, Home Care, and Nutrition products. The company operates in more than 190 countries, with products used daily by approximately 3.7 billion people worldwide.

In 2025, the multinational reported sales of €50.5 billion and maintained a global workforce of around 96,000 employees.

Within Central America and the Caribbean, the company focuses its operations on Beauty and Wellbeing, Personal Care, and Foods categories with brands including:

  • Knorr

ESG Recognition Gains Relevance Across Latin America

The inclusion of ESG criteria within the MERCO rankings reflects the growing importance of sustainability, governance, and social impact in corporate evaluation across Latin America.

For Unilever, being recognized simultaneously for reputation and ESG performance demonstrates the company’s broader strategy of combining operational performance with long-term sustainability commitments.

The company stated that its regional approach remains focused on responding quickly to market demands while continuing to generate sustainable value for stakeholders throughout Central America and the Caribbean.
