ULTRACEM Strengthens Concrete Operations Through Professional Training Program
ULTRACEM launches the PEC training program in Guatemala, certifying concrete delivery professionals through the FIHP.
ULTRACEM has implemented the PEC program, or Professionals in Concrete Delivery, in Guatemala as part of an initiative focused on strengthening the training and professional development of its concrete delivery teams. The program was designed for concrete truck drivers and also included members of ULTRACEM's Concretes team, including Operations Management, Scheduling and Dispatch, Quality, commercial advisors, and Technical Advisory.
Participants were certified by the Ibero-American Federation of Ready-Mixed Concrete (FIHP). In 2026, the PEC program was delivered in Guatemala for the first time.
An international program arrives in Guatemala
The PEC program has an international track record. It has been delivered for decades by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) in the United States and, for approximately two decades, has also been developed across Ibero-America through the FIHP.
According to the information shared by ULTRACEM, more than 4,000 people have been certified through the program.
For ULTRACEM, the initiative is part of a broader approach to its operations and the people responsible for making each delivery possible.

Training combines technical and operational knowledge
The PEC program is designed to professionalize drivers in the concrete industry and raise operational standards. The training included 22 hours of theoretical and practical instruction, organized into five modules covering product knowledge, sustainability and the environment, customer relations, industrial safety, and mixer truck maintenance and operation.
Participants covered topics including the fundamentals and components of concrete, its batching, mixing, delivery, and quality control.
The program also incorporated practical activities, including product-related exercises and tests, as well as reviews of vehicle operation and inspection procedures.
Safety as a key component of the program
Safety was another central element of the training. Concrete truck drivers and the other participants reinforced their knowledge of procedures for carrying out their work safely, industry standards, and good practices for operating mixer trucks.
This approach allowed the training to extend beyond product knowledge and incorporate operational procedures and safety practices relevant to concrete delivery.
A long-term approach to professional development
The PEC program was designed with a long-term vision. In addition to the training phase, it includes recognition and sustainability processes, with periodic updates covering areas such as safety, concrete, and defensive driving.
Through this initiative, ULTRACEM's concrete team participated in a training process that combines technical knowledge, operational practices, safety, and ongoing professional development.
