Ron Zacapa is marking its 50th anniversary with the launch of a limited-edition bottle created in collaboration with contemporary artist Joshua Vides. Presented by Licores de Guatemala, the commemorative design reinterprets one of the brand's most recognizable icons while honoring its Guatemalan heritage and craftsmanship.

A collaboration inspired by Guatemala

The anniversary edition features Ron Zacapa Solera Gran Reserva No. 23, redesigned through the artistic vision of Joshua Vides, an American contemporary artist of Guatemalan heritage known for transforming everyday objects through his signature black-and-white graphic style.

According to Licores de Guatemala, the collaboration began with Vides traveling across Guatemala to learn about the brand's history, cultural roots, and the production process that has shaped Ron Zacapa since its creation.

"Collaborating with Joshua Vides allowed us to reinterpret one of our most iconic products through a contemporary artistic perspective, creating a piece that reflects both the innovative spirit of the brand and its deep connection to Guatemala," said Douglas Franco, Corporate CEO of Licores de Guatemala.

Preserving the identity of an iconic bottle

Rather than redesigning the bottle from scratch, the project focused on reimagining its appearance while preserving the elements that define Ron Zacapa's identity.

The limited edition incorporates Vides' distinctive two-dimensional black-and-white visual language while maintaining the bottle's signature features, including the handcrafted petate band woven by Guatemalan women, one of the brand's most recognizable symbols.

The result is a collector's piece that blends contemporary art with the visual heritage of Ron Zacapa.

Celebrating craftsmanship and tradition

Beyond its artistic concept, the anniversary edition highlights the elements that have distinguished Ron Zacapa throughout its history.

The design draws attention to the rum's origin, its production process, the aging system developed in Guatemala's mountains, and the craftsmanship involved in every bottle.

"Celebrating 50 years means honoring our history, our roots, and the people who have built this legacy," said Alexandra Alfaro, Marketing Director at Licores de Guatemala.

A collector's edition for the brand's 50th anniversary

Joshua Vides has built an international reputation by transforming products and spaces with an illustration-inspired aesthetic and has previously collaborated with several global brands.

For Ron Zacapa's anniversary, his creative approach was centered on preserving the essence of the bottle while offering a contemporary interpretation that connects art, design, and Guatemalan identity.

The limited edition brings together Vides' artistic vision and Ron Zacapa's five-decade legacy in a commemorative collector's piece created to celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary.
