Expocasa 2026 Showcases Housing Opportunities and Financing Solutions in Guatemala

Expocasa 2026 has officially opened its doors in Guatemala, bringing together developers, financial institutions, construction companies, and suppliers for the 22nd edition of Central America's largest housing fair. The three-day event showcases 81 residential projects while offering homebuyers access to financing options, exclusive promotions, and specialized guidance under one roof.

Organized by the Guatemalan Chamber of the Construction Industry (CGIC), the event takes place from July 24 to 26 at Fórum Majadas and is expected to welcome more than 6,000 visitors.

Construction Sector Continues to Drive Guatemala's Economy

During the opening ceremony, Juan Pablo Estrada, President of the CGIC Board of Directors, emphasized the construction industry's contribution to Guatemala's economic growth.

According to Estrada, the sector expanded by 8.3% in 2025, significantly above the country's overall economic growth rate of 3.6%, reinforcing its position as one of the nation's most dynamic industries.

"When construction grows, employment, investment, and opportunities for thousands of Guatemalan families also grow," Estrada said.

He also noted that the industry's impact extends beyond physical infrastructure, generating an economic footprint exceeding Q111 billion, equivalent to roughly one out of every ten quetzales produced by the national economy, while supporting hundreds of thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

Estrada also called for maintaining the Fast Construction Permit Window (Ventanilla Ágil de la Construcción – VAC), highlighting that the initiative has reduced permit approval times by an average of 37 days, helping accelerate investment, lower costs, and facilitate the development of new housing projects.

Expocasa 2026 Brings Together Housing, Financing, and Expert Guidance

This year's edition features 57 participating companies and 81 residential developments, offering visitors the opportunity to compare housing options, explore mortgage financing, and receive professional advice in a single location.

Hugo Bosque, President of the Expocasa 2026 Organizing Committee, said the event goes beyond being a traditional commercial exhibition.

"Expocasa is where families find real opportunities to achieve the dream of homeownership. Developers, financial institutions, and specialists come together to support one of the most important decisions in a family's life," Bosque said.

New Digital Tools and Educational Sessions Enhance the Visitor Experience

Expocasa 2026 introduces several new features designed to improve the visitor experience.

Among them is a digital passport that helps attendees navigate the exhibition more efficiently. The program also includes educational workshops led by financial institutions covering mortgage access and financial decision-making, alongside specialized conferences focused on home insurance and innovation in real estate financing.

These additions aim to provide visitors not only with housing options but also with practical information to help them make informed purchasing decisions.

Family Activities Complement the Housing Exhibition

In addition to its commercial offerings, Expocasa 2026 includes a family-oriented entertainment program throughout the event.

Visitors can enjoy activities for children and adults, including face painting, balloon art, dinosaur shows, live music, baby gym sessions, a photo booth, and food tastings, creating an experience designed for the entire family.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the Aerómetro interactive booth, which presents the urban mobility project and highlights its potential impact on the city's future development.

Supporting Access to Housing in Guatemala

Beyond showcasing residential projects, Expocasa continues to promote broader access to housing in Guatemala.

The organizers noted that only 38.1% of households currently have adequate housing conditions, underscoring the importance of initiatives that connect families with financing options, specialized advisory services, and residential projects suited to different budgets and needs.

With more than two decades of history, Expocasa has established itself as a platform that supports investment, strengthens Guatemala's construction industry, stimulates economic activity, and helps more families move closer to homeownership.
