Ecofiltro Expands into the United States with Dedicated E-Commerce Platform
Ecofiltro expands into the U.S. with a dedicated online store offering gravity-powered water filters designed and handcrafted in Guatemala.
Ecofiltro has expanded its international presence by launching a dedicated e-commerce platform for customers in the United States. The new website offers several of the company's gravity-powered water filtration systems, combining Guatemalan technology, handcrafted design and online purchasing options tailored to the U.S. market.
The launch marks another step in Ecofiltro's international growth while bringing a water purification solution developed in Guatemala to a broader audience.
Ecofiltro Introduces a Product Line for U.S. Consumers
Through Ecofiltro USA, customers can choose from several household models, including Agua, Flor Azul, Flor Silvestre and Mazari Sand Beige, as well as replacement filter units.
While the models differ in capacity, finishes and design, they all operate using the same gravity-powered filtration system, eliminating the need for electricity, plumbing or complex installation.
The platform has been developed specifically for the U.S. market, offering content in English, online payment options and customer service designed for American consumers. According to the company's published privacy policy, the digital operation also maintains a business contact address in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Gravity-Based Filtration Developed in Guatemala
Ecofiltro's purification technology relies on a filter unit made from clay, activated carbon and colloidal silver.
According to the company, the clay captures sediments and microorganisms, activated carbon helps reduce odors, taste and turbidity, while colloidal silver acts on any remaining microorganisms. Water passes naturally through the filter by gravity, allowing the system to operate without electrical power.
Ecofiltro USA also publishes laboratory testing results covering the reduction of bacteria, microplastics, PFAS, pharmaceutical residues and certain metals. To maintain performance, the company recommends replacing the filter unit every two years.
Several of the ceramic models available through the online store are handcrafted and hand-painted by artisans in Antigua Guatemala, bringing both Guatemalan craftsmanship and water filtration technology to consumers in the United States.
A Social Enterprise with a Growing Global Presence
Ecofiltro's origins date back to 1981, when Guatemalan scientist Fernando Mazariegos developed the filtration technology.
In 2009, the initiative evolved into a social enterprise founded by Philip Wilson, with the goal of expanding access to safe drinking water. The business model is based on using urban sales to help make water filters more affordable for rural communities.
Today, the company reports having sold more than two million filters and operates in more than 23 countries.
Ecofiltro has also been certified as a B Corporation since 2020 and holds an impact assessment score of 125.7 points in the B Lab directory.

Strengthening Ecofiltro's International Reach
The launch of Ecofiltro USA expands the international visibility of a solution created in Guatemala while providing U.S. consumers with direct access to the company's products through a dedicated online platform.
Beyond introducing additional purchasing channels, the expansion also showcases Guatemalan innovation, artisan craftsmanship and social entrepreneurship to a new international market.
