Claro Guatemala Earns Recognition at IX Occupational Health and Safety Summit

Claro Guatemala was recognized for its commitment to occupational health and safety during the IX Occupational Health and Safety Summit, organized by the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS). The recognition highlights the company's implementation and compliance with best practices aimed at protecting the health, safety and well-being of its employees.

Claro Guatemala receives recognition from IGSS

Held in Antigua Guatemala, the ninth edition of the event brought together authorities, national and international experts, and representatives from the country's productive sector to promote a stronger culture of prevention.

The agenda focused on strategies including training, psychoeducation, emergency drills and response plans designed to prepare organizations for potential risks and emergency situations.

During the event, six companies were recognized for policies and strategies that promote comprehensive occupational health and safety management. Claro Guatemala stood out for achieving a high level of compliance with the standards evaluated and for extending these practices to its contractor companies, helping ensure adherence to current regulations.

“This award has a very special value because there are entities in the country responsible for verifying compliance with legal provisions on occupational health and safety. For an institution such as IGSS to recognize our work is a sign that we are moving in the right direction,” said Alejandro Masaya, Deputy Manager of Occupational Health and Safety at Claro Guatemala.

Prevention takes center stage at the occupational health and safety summit

The two-day event featured specialized conferences, practical exercises, experience-sharing sessions and recognition activities for public and private organizations that stand out for promoting safer and healthier work environments.

Among the topics addressed were mental health, innovation, psychosocial risks, sustainability, regulatory compliance and the comprehensive well-being of the working population.

These discussions highlighted the importance of combining preventive measures, employee preparation and risk management as part of occupational health and safety strategies.

Training and risk prevention as part of Claro's strategy

For Claro Guatemala, ongoing training and prevention form an important part of its approach to occupational health and safety.

The company's practices include continuous employee training, emergency response committees, safety plans, ongoing facility monitoring, emergency response brigades, and the identification and management of risks.

According to Masaya, these elements played a key role in achieving the recognition.

“The continuous training of our personnel, the creation of emergency response committees, the implementation of safety plans, the ongoing monitoring of facilities, the preparation of response brigades, as well as the proper identification and management of risks, have been key factors in receiving this recognition. All of this reflects our commitment to the health, safety and well-being of employees, visitors and suppliers,” Masaya concluded.

IGSS inspections reinforce continuous compliance

The inspections conducted by IGSS take place without prior notice, allowing the institution to objectively and transparently assess organizations' level of compliance.

Through consistent work and the implementation of preventive processes, Claro Guatemala has maintained high standards that help minimize observations and strengthen a culture of safety across its operations.
