Banco CHN Reaches 1,000 Home Loans: A Milestone for Affordable Housing in Guatemala
Guatemala's Banco CHN celebrates 1,000 homes financed through its Mi Primera Casa program, marking a milestone in affordable housing access for low-income Guatemalan families.
Guatemala's Crédito Hipotecario Nacional (CHN) has reached a landmark achievement: 1,000 homes financed through its Mi Primera Casa (My First Home) credit program, part of the Housing Fund (FAPRIVI). This milestone represents a significant step forward in expanding access to dignified housing for Guatemalan families — in a country where the housing deficit exceeds 1.8 million units.
A Symbolic Handover at the Heart of Guatemala City
The milestone was commemorated with the symbolic delivery of two apartments located at Condominio Vías de San Rafael, Zone 18, in Guatemala City. The units were handed over by President Bernardo Arévalo to clients Ana María Ramírez and Fernando Cárdenas, in a ceremony also attended by Finance Minister Jhonathan Menkos.
During the event, President Arévalo reaffirmed his administration's commitment to expanding housing access for lower-income Guatemalan families, describing the program as one of his government's flagship initiatives to improve living conditions across the country.

"One Thousand Houses, One Thousand Stories"
Sergio Silva, President of CHN, captured the significance of the moment:
"This achievement of surpassing one thousand financed homes confirms that we are fulfilling our institutional purpose. These are one thousand families who today have a patrimony and new opportunities. At CHN, we believe that every loan represents a story of effort and future: one thousand houses, one thousand stories that drive us to continue expanding our reach."
Addressing Guatemala's Housing Crisis
The milestone takes on deeper meaning against the backdrop of Guatemala's housing deficit of over 1.8 million homes, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable, accessible solutions. Through Mi Primera Casa, CHN reinforces its role as a strategic financial partner for Guatemalans, offering financing schemes tailored to the real needs of the population and aligned with the institution's mission of promoting financial inclusion and long-term well-being.
