MAX and Fundación Puente Raise Q125,000 to fight child malnutrition in Guatemala

MAX and Fundación Puente successfully concluded their annual fundraising campaign, raising Q125,000 to support early childhood nutrition and development programs across Guatemala. The initiative, made possible by the generosity of thousands of Guatemalans and the contribution of Grupo DISTELSA, will directly benefit 2,797 children and 2,401 mothers.

A six-year partnership driving community impact

The collaboration between MAX and Fundación Puente began in 2019 and has since generated consistent progress in the communities where the foundation operates. For six consecutive years, Fundación Puente has been able to sustain its programs without interruption, thanks to support from the private sector and the general public.

The solidarity of Guatemalans is what makes initiatives like this create real change,” said Andrés Ruiz, Human Resources Director at Grupo DISTELSA. “At Grupo DISTELSA, we renew our commitment to Fundación Puente because we see the transformative impact of their work every year. Every quetzal raised becomes hope for the most vulnerable families in the country. We thank everyone who joined this cause and invite others to get involved in the fight against child malnutrition.

How the 2025 fundraising campaign was carried out

The 2025 fundraising campaign took place from November 3 to December 31 through all MAX sales channels. The funds will be used to strengthen projects in Santa María Cahabón and San José Poaquil, expanding the reach of Fundación Puente’s work through its Nútreme Centers.

Each Nútreme Center is designed to provide comprehensive care for early childhood, from pregnancy through age four, with a strong focus on preventing chronic malnutrition through community-based educational programs.

Strengthening early childhood development through Nútreme Centers

Prevention and education continue to prove that they are the most powerful tools against malnutrition,” said Edna Lima de Morales, Founder and Board Member of Fundación Puente. “This year, we will strengthen our community interventions and continue working with families to ensure every child has the conditions needed for healthy development. Thanks to Grupo DISTELSA and every Guatemalan who contributed, we are building a future where malnutrition is a thing of the past. Your generosity saves lives and transforms entire communities.
