Wingo Launches Guatemala-Bogotá Flights as DGAC Strengthens Regional Air Links
Guatemala strengthens its international air connectivity as DGAC welcomes Wingo’s new Bogotá route and Air Canada’s direct Montreal flights, boosting tourism, trade, and economic growth.

Guatemala is strengthening its position as a key travel hub, with the DGAC celebrating new international connections that enhance tourism, trade, and economic development. The recent arrival of Wingo, the Colombian low-cost airline, marks a significant milestone in the country’s expanding air network.
Wingo Launches Pilot Flight to Guatemala

On October 29, Wingo will officially begin operations connecting Guatemala City and Bogotá, Colombia. Ahead of this, the Aeropuerto Internacional La Aurora welcomed the airline’s first pilot flight, signaling Guatemala’s growing integration into regional air travel.
In July, the Instituto Guatemalteco de Turismo (Inguat) confirmed the new route via social media, emphasizing its importance for direct connectivity with Colombia.
New Opportunities for Tourism, Trade, and Development
The Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) highlighted the positive impact of this new connection, aligning with the second axis of the Plan Conecta, led by the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure, and Housing (CIV).
The route is expected to streamline travel to Guatemala, boost tourism, and create new avenues for commerce, contributing to overall economic growth.
“This new direct connection reinforces bilateral relations with Colombia, promoting collaboration across tourism, trade, and development sectors,” noted DGAC officials.

Expanding Direct Flights to Canada
In addition to Wingo, Air Canada recently launched a direct route between Montreal and Guatemala City, further improving international accessibility.
Previously, travelers from Canada needed up to three stopovers to reach Guatemala, but now they can enjoy a direct flight. Air Canada will operate three weekly flights until April 29, 2026, making Guatemala more accessible to Canadian tourists.
Guatemala’s Growing Global Connectivity
With these new routes, Guatemala is increasingly connected to key international destinations, positioning the country as a premier tourism hub while stimulating economic opportunities and strengthening partnerships with allied nations.
