SER 2026: Guatemala Hosts High-Level Forum on Renewable Energy and Innovation
Summit de Energía Renovable (SER) 2026 brings together global energy leaders to discuss innovation, AI, and Guatemala’s renewable transition and power sector modernization.
Summit de Energía Renovable (SER) 2026 is positioning itself as a key platform for Guatemala’s energy future, bringing together national and international experts to examine how innovation, technology, and artificial intelligence are reshaping the country’s power sector.
Since its first edition, SER has attracted strong interest from energy stakeholders, government authorities, the private sector, and international organizations.
A strategic forum for Guatemala’s energy transition
The 2026 edition consolidates SER as a space to analyze how emerging technologies and AI are becoming critical enablers of a more resilient, efficient, and competitive electricity system. The goal is to meet rising demand, improve service quality, and expand economic and social development opportunities across Guatemala.
“This is the moment to look at the world and understand that the energy transition is a global challenge. Guatemala has a unique opportunity thanks to its high renewable generation potential; leveraging it will allow the country to become an attractive destination for investment and a driver of development, strengthening our electric industry and market,” said Alfonso González, president of AGER.
A roadmap to turn energy transition into real opportunities
The discussions will be complemented by the presentation of a roadmap designed to guide concrete actions across key sectors. This framework seeks to ensure that the energy transition translates into tangible benefits for industry, citizens, and Guatemala’s sustainable development.
International speakers and regional expertise
High-level experts will share their perspectives during the second edition. Confirmed speakers include:
- Diego Mesa Puyo, former Minister of Mines and Energy of Colombia
- Patrice Rimond, Director of Electrification and Automation Business Unit at Siemens
- Darío Miccelli, Energy Management Manager at Enel Colombia and Central America
- Andrés Rebolledo, Executive Secretary of OLACDE

A multisector platform for dialogue and collaboration
“We have built an agenda that invites discussion on the major themes that will redefine the path toward strengthening the electricity sector. This is a space that requires the involvement of everyone: authorities, private sector, multilateral organizations, academia, business chambers, opinion leaders, media, and citizens. Being informed is the first link in moving forward with strength toward the future,” said Astrid Perdomo, Executive Director of AGER.
The event will also feature representatives from the Mayor’s Office of Medellín, Colombia, Guatemalan municipalities, CABEI, IDB Invest, and high-level panels with CEOs of leading multinational companies operating in the country.
