Metroplaza Salcajá opens its second phase with new brands, expanded commercial space and over 500 jobs, strengthening economic growth in Guatemala’s western region.
The expansion of Metroplaza Salcajá marks a new milestone for Metroproyectos, the pioneering developer behind commercial centers across Guatemala’s interior. Starting Tuesday, November 25, 2025, the company officially inaugurates the second phase of this key retail complex located at kilometer 195 on National Route 1, reinforcing its strategy to strengthen economic development in the western region.
A Larger Commercial Complex with Expanded Capacity
As part of its regional growth plan, Metroproyectos has expanded the commercial center to 26,340 square meters of construction area and 12,100 square meters of gross leasable area (GLA).
The upgrade enhances the complex’s role as a retail and lifestyle destination, supporting the community with new infrastructure, jobs, and business opportunities.
New Brands Joining the Shopping Center
With the expansion, Metroplaza Salcajá now features 76 commercial spaces, including restaurants, convenience stores, fashion retailers and the well-known supermarket La Torre.

These join the existing freestanding establishments added in 2024, such as San Martín, Taco Bell, Domino’s Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts, Subway, Café Barista and Helados Sarita.

Metroproyectos’ leadership highlights that the expansion is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect jobs, benefiting residents of Salcajá and nearby communities. The development strengthens the regional economy by offering a modern space for shopping, dining and entertainment.
The complex also provides 550 free parking spaces, enhancing accessibility for visitors and maintaining the high-quality standards associated with the corporation’s commercial projects.
