Guatemala Strengthens Luxury Tourism with Villa Bokéh Joining Leading Hotels of the World
Villa Bokéh joins a prestigious global network, elevating Guatemala’s luxury tourism through cacao-driven experiences, strategic partnerships, and world-class hospitality standards.
Guatemala is strengthening its position as a luxury tourism destination in Central America following Villa Bokéh’s incorporation into Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), one of the most prestigious global networks of independent luxury hotels. Effective April 1, this milestone marks a significant step in elevating the country’s international visibility.
This integration follows a rigorous evaluation process that ensures the highest operational and service standards, placing Guatemala within a highly competitive global hospitality landscape.
Global Standards Elevate Guatemala’s Luxury Hospitality Sector
Villa Bokéh’s acceptance into LHW was achieved through comprehensive audits assessing nearly 800 quality, service, and guest experience criteria. The property now joins a curated collection of over 453 luxury hotels worldwide.
“As of April 1, we are part of Leading Hotels of the World. This network brings together more than 453 hotels that meet the highest quality standards through rigorous evaluations. This ensures every guest enjoys an exceptional and meaningful experience,” said Paula Jacobo, General Manager of Villa Bokéh.
This recognition reinforces Guatemala’s emergence as a key player in the premium tourism market in Latin America.

Cacao-Centered Gastronomy Showcases Guatemala’s Cultural Identity
To celebrate the announcement, Villa Bokéh introduced a culinary initiative centered on Guatemalan cacao, positioning it as a cornerstone of the luxury experience.
The event brought together resident chef Marcos Sáenz and guest chef Gonzo Jiménez, who designed immersive gastronomic experiences:
- Chocolart: an interactive concept led by Jiménez, exploring cacao from its origin
- “Chocolart is not a workshop—it is a conversation with origin,” the chef explained
- Cacao Dining Experience: a six-course dinner with curated pairings and live music
- “Building a menu around cacao is a way of showing the world what Guatemala can offer,” noted Sáenz
These experiences highlight the role of gastronomy in shaping high-end tourism experiences in Guatemala.

Strategic Partnerships Strengthen Guatemala’s Luxury Ecosystem
The initiative was supported by key partners including Banco Industrial, PICSA, San Pellegrino, and Vinoteca, all contributing to the development of premium experiences.
“At Banco Industrial, we are committed to creating meaningful connections beyond financial services, enabling clients to experience the best of Guatemala. Through this alliance, we support innovation, cultural identity, and sustainable development,” said Annaí Paniagua.
These collaborations demonstrate how the private sector is driving the growth of sustainable luxury tourism in Guatemala.

Blending Authenticity with Global Projection
Villa Bokéh is part of Grupo Alta, an organization focused on crafting experiences rooted in authenticity, design, and personalized service.
“Villa Bokéh was born from the belief that Guatemala has stories, ingredients, and talent worth sharing in a different way,” said Paula Lehnhoff.
This vision reinforces Guatemala’s positioning as a destination where cultural identity meets global standards.
Guatemala Positions Itself in the Global Luxury Travel Market
Villa Bokéh’s integration into Leading Hotels of the World represents a strategic advancement for Guatemala’s presence in global luxury tourism.
Through high-end gastronomy, strong partnerships, and internationally recognized standards, the country is building a compelling narrative as a competitive destination. This progress opens new opportunities for sustainable tourism development and international investment.
