Guatemala Export Award 2025: From Resilient Coffee to AI Innovation

The Export Award 2025 showcased how Guatemalan companies are redefining competitiveness through innovation, sustainability, and social purpose. Organized by the Guatemalan Exporters Association (Agexport) with the support of Conapex, this 37th edition recognized 11 outstanding companies that took Guatemala’s name beyond borders, proving that exporting with purpose is both possible and profitable.

The ceremony took place on October 14 at the Westin Camino Real Convention Center, where innovation and tradition came together to celebrate Guatemala’s export excellence.

Exporting with Purpose: Innovation and Sustainability at the Core

This year’s edition stood out for its emphasis on technology, environmental sustainability, and social impact. The finalists demonstrated that exporting can go hand in hand with positive transformation:

  • Agroindustrias Successo develops microorganisms that regenerate soils and replace agrochemicals, embracing the vision of “detoxifying the planet.”
  • Metaverso/PULSTER.AI uses artificial intelligence and data analytics to optimize supermarket expansion across seven countries, positioning Guatemala at the forefront of regional tech innovation.
  • Extract, S.A. stands out for its solid personal care products with biodegradable packaging, reducing water use and promoting clean energy.
  • Industrias Novafilm, the largest stretch film manufacturer in Central America and the Caribbean, produces over 2,000 tons per month and leads reforestation programs with more than 200,000 trees planted.

Stories of Resilience and Transformation

The award also celebrated companies born from adversity, organizations that turned challenges into growth opportunities.

Buena Tierra, S.A., founded after the 2018 eruption of the Volcán de Fuego, now unites 120 coffee growers from Acatenango who export high-quality beans to South Korea and the United States.

Meanwhile, Cooperativa Apicultores del Suroccidente (COPIASURO) brings together hundreds of families managing over 25,000 beehives. Their certified organic honey reaches European markets under fair trade principles.

Six Sectors, Eleven Finalists: Guatemala’s Export Diversity

Rigorous Evaluation Process

The selection process included field visits and technical assessments led by a multidisciplinary jury composed of representatives from the FAO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Banco Industrial, IICA, Universidad Rafael Landívar, and Prensa Libre, among others. This ensured transparency and high standards in evaluating each company’s achievements and impact.

According to Amador Carballido, Agexport’s Executive Director,

These finalist companies are a clear example that exporting with purpose is possible.

A Celebration of Guatemala’s Global Vision

For more than 37 editions, the Export Award has recognized companies that reinvent themselves, diversify markets, and make a meaningful impact on their communities.

In 2025, Guatemala once again honored businesses that combined tradition and modernity, from AI-driven solutions to sustainable agriculture, demonstrating that the country continues to compete internationally with innovation, social commitment, and a global vision.
