The Latin Finance Awards 2025 honored the Campus San Cristóbal Project in Mixco, Guatemala, with the “Infrastructure Financing of the Year in Central America” award. This recognition highlights the transformative impact of the project on education and sports, providing new opportunities for comprehensive development to over 11,400 Guatemalan students.

International Recognition and Strategic Partners

The award was received in New York by representatives of the Montesquieu Foundation, the project promoter, along with officials from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and BID Invest, key institutions behind the initiative, together with the Canadian Climate Fund.

The Latin Finance Project & Infrastructure Finance Awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and commitment in projects that drive economic and social progress across Latin America. The jury evaluated factors including market significance, strategic relevance, innovation, structural complexity, size, sustainability, and ESG impact.

A Comprehensive Investment in Education and Sports

Campus San Cristóbal represents a total investment of US$37.2 million, with contributions from CABEI (US$11.0 million), BID Invest (US$18.7 million), and the Canadian Climate Fund (US$7.5 million). The campus will include:

  • A primary and secondary school serving 1,400 students.
  • A university offering diverse academic programs for more than 10,000 students.
  • An Olympic-level sports campus to promote healthy lifestyles, foster various disciplines, and develop athletic talent in Guatemala.

This integrated approach positions the project as a regional benchmark for infrastructure with social impact.
