Agua Pura Salvavidas and Fundecán Launch Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
Agua Pura Salvavidas and Fundecán launch a campaign in Guatemala promoting breast self-exams and early detection of breast cancer.
Agua Pura Salvavidas and Fundecán have joined forces once again to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection in Guatemala. The campaign, developed around World Breast Cancer Day on October 19, encourages Guatemalan women to prioritize their health through regular breast self-exams.
This year's initiative centers on the message “The same hands that care can also save lives: perform your breast self-exam,” using hands as a symbol of the everyday acts of care women provide for their loved ones and encouraging them to dedicate those same hands to their own health.
A Nationwide Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
The campaign will take place throughout September and October, reaching people across Guatemala through Agua Pura Salvavidas products and awareness activities.
As part of the initiative, consumers will be able to identify pink caps on the brand's water jugs and 20-ounce bottles. The 20-ounce bottles will also feature a commemorative informational label related to the campaign.
Awareness efforts will include the distribution of informational flyers explaining the steps for performing a breast self-exam correctly. Messages will also be shared through media outlets and the brand's delivery trucks.
“After nine decades of promoting the health and lives of Guatemalans, we continue to promote initiatives that raise awareness about early detection, because acting in time can make a significant difference,” said Claudia Lara, Strategic Division Manager at Agua Pura Salvavidas.
Encouraging Women to Prioritize Early Detection
Fundecán, an organization that has supported low-income patients for more than 15 years, highlights early detection as one of the key actions for reducing the serious risks associated with breast cancer.
A breast self-exam is a simple practice that can be performed periodically at home and does not require any cost. It involves observing and feeling the breasts to identify potential changes or abnormalities, including lumps, dimpling, swelling, thickening, or changes in size, color, or shape, as well as unusual discharge.
Through the campaign, Claudia Lara said the organizations seek to “motivate Guatemalan women to dedicate a few minutes to performing a self-exam and getting to know their bodies.”
Additional information about detection methods and the programs available to support Guatemalan women can be found on the Fundecán website.
14 Years of Collaboration for Breast Cancer Awareness

The partnership between Agua Pura Salvavidas and Fundecán is based on a shared commitment to promoting health, education, prevention, and early breast cancer detection.
The organizations have worked together for 14 years, using the campaign associated with World Breast Cancer Day to bring women across Guatemala messages centered on self-care, love, and responsibility.
Their collaboration extends beyond this specific campaign. This year, the initiative began months earlier with the sponsorship of the Carrera Fundecán Salvavidas, an event that exceeded its proposed goal and brought together thousands of participants to help more people receive support in their fight against the disease.
“Thanks to the continued support of Agua Pura Salvavidas, we can expand our awareness programs and continue supporting low-income women who need treatment. This partnership allows us to reach communities where our prevention message is more necessary than ever,” said Isabel Herbruger, president of Fundecán.
The organizations are encouraging people to share the campaign's prevention messages and help more women understand the importance of self-care and early detection.
